Course overview
The aim of this course is to develop awareness and understanding of core aspects of nuclear and radiation science, the nuclear fuel cycle, radionuclides in the environment and industry, and nuclear medicine. Ethics relating to nuclear and radiation issues, as well as public awareness of these issues will also be considered.

Course learning outcomes
- Apply knowledge of nuclear and radiation chemistry to analyse and solve conceptual and quantitative problems
- Accurately represent chemical structures, formulae, and equations
- Prepare for undertaking individual and/or team-based preparative and/or measurement-based laboratory investigations using appropriate apparatus, techniques and safe laboratory practices
- Analyse, interpret and present the results of preparative and measurement-based laboratory experiments
- Communicate ideas that relate to nuclear and radiation chemistry in written and/or oral form to specialist and/or non-specialist audiences
