Course overview
This course provides the students with the necessary knowledge and skills in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems with Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) principles in engineering contexts. Students will learn to analyse processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement improvements in the resource management practice using ERP systems. Building upon concepts of material requirement planning (MRP I) and manufacturing resource planning (MRP II), the course extends classroom examples to real business scenarios through hands-on computer practicals using SAP software package. Learners will develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for conducting resource planning considering necessary constraint. On the completion of this course, students will be prepared to take the lead in engineering resource planning initiatives within their organizations. With a comprehensive understanding of ERP and practical proficiency in SAP software, the students will be well-equipped to contribute to organizational decision-making processes, playing critical role in driving organizational success through effective communication of their analyses and recommendations.
