Course overview

This research-based capstone course allows students to develop business research skills through the analysis of financial and industry information. This course is designed to be taken consecutively with Finance Industry Project 2. In Finance Industry Project 1, students will conduct in depth research and analysis on a currently relevant finance topic. Students will critically review research, reflect on current industry practice and needs, and hypothesise on their chosen area. Students will advocate for their chosen research idea in various mediums. Students will be rewarded for innovative and transformative thinking.

Course learning outcomes

  • Analyse and integrate advanced theoretical and technical knowledge of financial analysis and related areas
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge and skills to critically analyse financial data to investigate problems in finance
  • Identify research issues and evaluate research designs and advanced methodologies as per current finance research
  • Design research project goals whilst collaborating in a team-based environment
  • Communicate research goals including critical analysis, reporting, and presenting quantitative and qualitative data, to specialist and non-specialist audiences
