Course overview
This course provides students with advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of industry expectations around the critical evaluation, research methodology and preparation of strategic projects and reports. Throughout this capstone course students will produce a strategic project focused on defence, space, or a closely related industry, bringing together the knowledge gained across the Global Executive MBA program. The course also provides a pathway to further learning and development after completion of the Global Executive MBA. Introduction to strategic project management and research; identifying research questions, key issues, or process of business model development; research design; data collection: qualitative and quantitative methods and techniques; critical analysis of and use of primary and secondary data, and use of this data for report writing and presentation/publication in defence, space, and related industries.
Course learning outcomes
- Acquire and reflect upon advanced knowledge of a range of principles and methods of management research relevant to high level strategy in organisational contexts.
- Critically apply learning from a range of fields (including aspects of finance, human resources, leadership, organisational change, management, disruption, growth, and strategy) to management issues in a defence or space related organisation.
- Reflect, evaluate, and apply learning from Global Executive MBA studies to writing a capstone project where you use strategic analysis of a case in the defence/space or related industry and develop an understanding of competitive situations and challenges and opportunities of the global market environment.
- Enhance your strategy practice by applying research methods and data analysis skills to develop a strategic evidence-based report for industry partners.
