This course is designed to equip students with knowledge and skills in decision making and problem solving within a contemporary business context.
It aims to provide practical tools and frameworks for addressing complex business challenges in both routine and crisis situations, in improving decision quality, and fostering innovative solutions to meet organisational goals.

Course learning outcomes
- Critically assess ambiguous and multi-dimensional problems using structured problem-framing techniques to distinguish root causes from symptoms across business contexts.
- Explain and critically discuss the implications and effect of cognitive biases, groupthink, and ethical issues on decision making.
- Critically examine and integrate traditional and innovative methodologies techniques, and tools, in a systems thinking approach to generate, evaluate, and prioritise ethical solutions.
- Demonstrate skills in problem solving and decision making as an individual and in teamwork to evaluate various decision-making frameworks, models and tools, and critically explain the most appropriately selected approach in applying to a real-world problem.
