Course overview

The aim of this course is to enable students to apply the knowledge of their discipline gained throughout their studies to work related tasks and gain valuable experience related to their future career. The Virtual Internship will give students an insight into what it is like to work on projects regardless of geographical location. The Virtual Internship partners students with an organisation to work on real-world projects in the digital business environment. The Virtual Internship will be carried out under academic and industry supervision through an online platform. The online platform ensures timely support, reflective practice and regular feedback to improve the outcomes of experiential learning for students. Students will have the opportunity to apply, evaluate and reflect on knowledge gained throughout their studies and the links to future career options.

Course learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate practical abilities in specific aspects of the chosen discipline.
  • Collect and report evidence of a range of tasks, responsibilities, knowledge and skills required for the internship undertaken.
  • Critically assess and report on the tasks undertaken and skills developed throughout the internship.
  • Critically reflect on tasks undertaken throughout the internship.
  • Demonstrate UniSA Business Enterprise Skills: i) Self Management (advanced level); ii) Problem Solving (advanced level); iii) Ethical Awareness (advanced level); iv) Teamwork (advanced level); v) Written Communication (advanced level); and vi) Oral Communication (advanced level).
