Course overview

The aim of this course is to develop students' understanding of organisational learning and leadership and to apply theories to real world contexts. Leadership and leading changes; traits, behaviours, and relationships; leader personality, traits, and emotions; courage and moral leadership; followership; motivation and empowerment; leading teams; power and social influence; shaping organisational culture.

Course learning outcomes

  • Recognise the association between organisational leadership and effectiveness.
  • Discuss organisational leadership theories.
  • Compare and contrast behaviours, qualities and roles of leaders.
  • Analyse leadership development approaches and contexts.
  • Examine dimensions of diversity in relation to leadership.
  • Apply organisational learning and leadership theories to real world scenarios.
  • Demonstrate Business Enterprise Skills: i) Ethical Awareness (intermediate level); ii) Written Communication (advanced level); and iii) Oral Communication (intermediate level).
