Course overview
This course will provide knowledge of concepts, legislative requirements, practices and skills required within property agency. Management processes, building operations, facilities management, rent and expenses schedules, trust accounts and other key management areas including the interpretation and administration of commercial leases, budgeting, presenting at tribunals, an overview of asset management techniques for value maintenance and assessment and application of local and national legislation for real estate practice.
Course learning outcomes
- Discuss agency legislation and its application to agency practice.
- Examine the principles of marketing property, including ascertaining clients' and consumers' objectives, negotiating strategies and reporting to clients.
- Identify and have a sound working knowledge of property documentation required in the sale, leasing and management of property.
- Explain current management principles and practices and their potential effect on property income and values.
- Prepare management plans, budgets and reports for the financial and physical aspects of investment properties.
- Demonstrate UniSA Business Enterprise Skills in the context of the Property discipline: i) Problem Solving (intermediate level); and ii) Written Communication (intermediate level).
