Course overview

This course will introduce students to contemporary organisational issues and to develop a critical approach of the concepts presented through analysis and evaluation. The nature of organisational behaviour, individual behaviour in organisations; personality; perception; motivation concepts; decision-making; managing and understanding groups and teams; influence and power; managing organisations through change and stress management.

Course learning outcomes

  • Analyse the nature of organisational behaviour.
  • Evaluate the impact of personality, perception and culture on behaviour within organisations.
  • Identify and implement various techniques to manage contemporary issues.
  • Critically evaluate and apply various models of motivation.
  • Determine the costs and benefits of groups and teams of how managers can promote effective team performance and apply models of decision-making, power and influence.
  • Evaluate the forces and methods associated with organisational change.
  • Demonstrate Business Enterprise Skills in the context of the Management discipline: i) Problem Solving (intermediate level); and ii) Written Communication (intermediate level).
