Course overview

Students will investigate the professional communication and decision making for contemporary organisations. They will develop skills in problem solving, analysis and communication, equipping them with the practical application of critical thinking for managers, communicating professionally with impact, and challenging beliefs and information.

Course learning outcomes

  • Identify and explain the characteristics of different types of management problems and decisions, problem solvers and decision makers and approaches to problem solving and decision making
  • Examine different approaches to problem solving and management decision making through various methods, including business meetings and technology-aided communication
  • Discuss strategies for the effective management of organisational communication, including intercultural and intergenerational communication and feedback
  • Apply team communication and development strategies to the critical analysis and solving of contemporary business problems
  • Apply communication knowledge to common practical contexts in organisations
