Course overview

This course will provide students with advanced theoretical and technical knowledge in a range of principles, skills and techniques required for management of projects throughout a generic project life cycle. Students will study a broad set of inter-related theoretical concepts and practical processes based on a selection of international Project Management standards as applied across a generic project lifecycle, including: project management systems and generic concepts; project processes and techniques; process integration; project environments; and the role of the project manager.

Course learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate advanced theoretical and technical knowledge of project management processes across a typical project lifecycle.
  • Critically analyse, evaluate and transform project principles in order to provide solutions to complex problems.
  • Generate and evaluate complex knowledge and ideas in project management contexts and transfer to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrate theoretical knowledge and skills in the field of project management to apply creativity and initiative to new situations in professional practice.
  • Apply advanced individual and team skills that include working with people in local, remote, virtual, and/or international project team situations.
