Course overview
This course will assist students in enhancing their employability through investigating career options and pathways, and exploring the impact of the labour market and an individual's values, interests and other competencies on career satisfaction. Introduction to the concepts of employability and career planning/management, knowledge and tools to enhance career decision-making through exploration of self, the world of work and career-focused opportunities, and development of career self-marketing skills and techniques.
Course learning outcomes
- Understand the career development process in enhancing employability aligned with career values.
- Self assess key skills, motivations and values to guide protean career development.
- Clarify career objectives and occupational opportunities.
- Develop clear goals and undertake and evaluate actions to enhance career outcomes.
- Demonstrate Business Enterprise Skills: i) Self-Management (intermediate level); ii) Written Communication (foundation level) and iii) Oral Communication (foundation level).
