Course overview
The aim of this course is to extend and consolidate the student's technical knowledge and skills of modern construction and project management techniques on complex construction projects, including: Sustainable construction; Constructability; Construction planning, progress and control; Site establishment and management; People, health and safety; Industrial relations; Continued studies in Project Management programming software; Gantt diagrams; Network analysis; Precedence diagrams; Value and risk; Management of change and Organisational Learning, Lean construction, Knowledge management, Prefabrication and simulation.
Course learning outcomes
- Appraise the techniques used in company and construction project management and administration, including complex projects in terms of constructability, construction method, project control and site organisation.
- Evaluate the principles of implementing sustainable construction.
- Plan for efficient management of resources and demonstrate familiarity with the use of software in the application of project management planning techniques and tools.
- Apply theoretical knowledge of the concepts of value and risk and apply analytical tools for their management
- Demonstrate theoretical knowledge of the Australian industrial relations framework and discuss the implications for the construction industry
- Review the operational and management aspects of occupational health and safety
