Course overview

The aim of this course is to develop the skills necessary to execute research in construction management and to prepare a research paper or thesis. Conduct a research project in construction management under supervision. Students will usually work independently or in teams to refine and execute the research plan they developed in UO Research Theory and Practice.

Course learning outcomes

  • Consolidate theoretical knowledge and skills to plan and execute a research-based project.
  • Critically review published literature related to a research topic.
  • Determine, develop and implement the most appropriate research method to investigate a research topic in an ethical manner.
  • Assemble, analyse and synthesize relevant data and information into a convincing argument at an advanced level.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Communicate research outcomes in a manner acceptable to the natural and built environment professions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work as a member of a professional team, displaying both team-work skills and autonomy.
