Course overview
This course will introduce students to the practice of quantity surveying, standard methods of measurement, and measurement of domestic and small commercial buildings. Introduction to the principles and practice of Quantity Surveying; Introduction to Bill of Quantities; Principles of measurement for building works; Use of mensuration in quantities; Measurement and billing process for earthworks, Concrete in strip Footings, Brickwork, Internal finishes, Joinery and roof coverings .
Course learning outcomes
- Describe the role and duties of Quantity Surveyors in relation to pre and post contract procedures
- Apply cost management principles for domestic and small commercial building projects
- Apply principles of standard measurement techniques for domestic and small commercial building projects
