Course overview

The aim of this course is to demonstrate the physical principles used in the design and management of buildings to create environmentally suitable and sustainable conditions. Climate change, greenhouse emissions, solar radiation, energy efficiency, environmentally sustainable design parameters focusing on passive design strategies, indoor environmental quality, including thermal, lighting and acoustic comfort, water management and efficiency, renewable energy generation.

Course learning outcomes

  • Explain the climatic parameters to maximise indoor comfort while minimising energy consumption in buildings.
  • Apply sustainable design principles to enhance building performance.
  • Analyse building performance to comply with the industry standards.
