Course overview
This course aims to develop students’ understanding of planning and building regulations relevant to the construction industry. It covers the development approval process, as well as the key codes and standards that govern construction activities in Australia.
Course learning outcomes
- Relate the principles of development and control to various projects and localities
- Critically review the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act and Regulations and the related Australian standards
- Relate the Building Code of Australia to construction projects using drawings and other information
- Compose reports on building and planning matters and analyse non-compliance with regulations
