Course overview
This course aims to build students’ understanding on site planning, scheduling and construction safety. The course focuses on the process of analysing the unique conditions of a construction site, preparing it, managing the daily construction activities to ensure there are sufficient resources such as labour, materials and equipment when they’re needed, and conduct construction activities safely. This course enables learners to develop system thinking perspectives and problem-solving skills essential for managing projects considering construction site, planning and safety. This course aligns with the program's intent to provide a comprehensive understanding of construction management, preparing learners to excel in a global market.
Course learning outcomes
- Propose construction schedules based on the Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT), including both activity-on-node and activity-on-arrow diagrams
- Optimise construction schedules considering resource constraints and time-cost trade-off
- Interpret legislation including: the safety act and regulations, codes of practice, roles and responsibilities
- Propose a risk assessment and safe work method statement for a construction site scenario
- Propose a construction site management plan
