Course overview

Topics cover the breadth of project and development financing including sources of finance (debt, equity, hybrids), insurance and bonds, private financing initiative, PPP, market principles, discounted cash flow and cash flow management and project appraisal (NPV, IRR), life cycle costing.

Course learning outcomes

  • Understand the basic principals of accounting
  • Understand the financial and economic terminology in construction
  • Interpret and analyse financial reports in construction
  • Conduct preliminary cashflow forecasting, value management and earned value management calculations
  • Evaluate different corporate strategies from the financial perspective for corporate decision making
