Course overview
The aim of this course is to introduce students to the selection and use of materials and components in modern construction. Factors affecting the selection of construction materials, including functions, performance, aesthetics, economic, and environmental factors. The scientific properties of construction materials, including physical, mechanical, thermal and chemical properties. Commonly used primary and secondary construction materials and products, including concrete, steel, wood, masonry materials, finishes and waterproofing materials. The life cycle of construction materials and products and their sustainable use in construction.
