Course overview

This course introduces students to a wide variety of techniques and methods used by the environmental and conservation industry. Students will be provided with knowledge and a framework to use selected techniques to address specific industry challenges. Students will generate new environmental and/or conservation data to advance scientific knowledge and understanding of industry challenges.

Course learning outcomes

  • Identify a relevant environmental industry challenge and develop a research project proposal to investigate this challenge.
  • Identify, develop and evaluate appropriate methods and techniques to feasibly address the environmental industry challenge.
  • Implement and manage research activities effectively, demonstrating project planning, time management, and initiative.
  • Analyse and interpret project data to produce meaningful insights, making evidence-based conclusions with industry applications.
  • Design and demonstrate methods for communication of the project approach and outcomes tailored for diverse audiences.
