Course overview

This course provides learners with theoretical and practical knowledge to design and analyse bioinformatic datasets. The course will cover relevant bioinformatics, computational, statistical concepts, and the key biological processes under investigation. Practical skills will equip the learner with the required knowledge to conduct modern omic analysis using state-of-the-art methods and tools.

  • Fundamentals Of Bioinformatics
  • Genomics
  • Transcriptomics
  • Evolutionary Genomics (Optional)

Course learning outcomes

  • Analyse a biological question to develop a research analysis pipeline.
  • Use various publicly available data resources and software tools to perform bioinformatic analyses.
  • Follow guidelines to ensure the reproducibility of a research analysis using modern programming tools.
  • Use and communicate statistical concepts to establish reliable bioinformatic analyses.
  • Employ effective techniques to communicate research results to a non-bioinformatics-specialist audience.
