Course overview

This course aims to provide students with advanced understanding of the immune system in health and disease.

Course learning outcomes

  • Articulate specific cellular and molecular processes involved in the function of the immune system in health and disease
  • Integrate concepts in immunology and microbial pathogenesis to demonstrate understanding of complex human disease
  • Explain fundamental concepts of how viruses interact with the host cell, replicate and evade immune responses
  • Demonstrate understanding of vaccine design and application as it applies to microbial pathogens
  • Work in small teams and effectively communicate concepts related to recent advances in immunology and viral pathogenesis
