Course overview
The aim of this course is to explain the psychophysiology of attention, altered states of consciousness, memory and sleep, and explore specific areas of focus within this context. Neurobiology of: states of consciousness, neuropathology, attention, memory processing, sleep architecture, circadian and ultradian cycles, as well as the functional aspects of sleep and other psychophysiological states.
Course learning outcomes
- Build upon existing knowledge of the neural basis attention, altered states of consciousness, and memory.
- Examine the psychological changes associated with different states of cortical arousal and consciousness.
- Critically examine a topic of interest and relevance to the field.
