Course overview
This course aims to provide students with a basic understanding of the principles and application of biotechnology for diverse outputs, particularly production of food and natural products, medical science and agriculture.
Course learning outcomes
- Outline and describe the various stages of bioprocessing from product development through to market release
- Describe how microorganisms can be utilised for the expression and production of natural bio-products
- Explain how naturally produced bio-products can be exploited for research & commercial purposes
- Devise future studies based on identification of areas of biotechnology that are of specific interest
