Course overview

The aim of this course is to develop knowledge of the structures and functions of the human body. Terminology; level of body organisation; homeostasis; cells and tissues; digestive system; nutrition and metabolism; skeletal system; cardiovascular system; nervous system and special senses.

Course learning outcomes

  • Describe the structures and functions of the human body using appropriate terminology.
  • Describe the normal structure and function of cells and tissues.
  • Describe the structure and function of the muscular, skeletal, cardiovascular, digestive and nervous systems.
  • Explain how body systems interact with each other to maintain homeostasis.
