Course overview
This course will provide an applied research experience at a masters level of study, to broaden knowledge in specialist areas, and to expose students to both the substantive theory and practice of research in the field of finance. This course will provide the training necessary to conduct independent quality research in finance, cultivate analytical and critical skills, and develop an awareness of emerging developments in finance discipline and closely related fields. Students will be familiar with different topics in mainstream finance, and conduct an applied research project on this area. The course embeds the research approaches and quantitative tools required to define and complete a research project under supervision. The focus of the course is on developing skill sets that increase graduate employability.
Course learning outcomes
- Apply current advanced research methodologies used in finance research and/or other business related research fields.
- Apply current advanced statistical and econometrics tests and procedures used in financial data analysis.
- Identify topical research issues and evaluate research designs and advanced methodologies used in current finance research and/or other business related research fields.
- Develop a broad range of the analytical skills required in advance research in finance and other business-related fields.
- Develop discipline-specific skills in summarising, critical analysis, reporting and presenting both quantitative and qualitative data and research results.
- Demonstrate UniSA Business Enterprise Skills in the context of the Finance discipline: i) Self-Management (advanced level); ii) Ethical Awareness (advanced level); iii) Teamwork (advanced level); iv) Written Communication (advanced level); v) Oral Communication (advanced level); and vi) International Perspective (advanced level).
