Course overview
This course aims to provide learners with an advanced understanding of: superannuation as a saving and wealth creation vehicle, superannuation’s history and the social and regulatory frameworks it operates within; requirements for compliance and limitations placed on superannuation vehicles; contributions, preservation, conditions of release, and retirement drawdowns; and forms of superannuation benefits. These understandings are embedded within the financial planning principles and advice involved in superannuation investment strategy, superannuation relationships with social security and estate planning, and detailed knowledge of the complexities of the tax implications associated with superannuation and retirement planning, preparing the learner for professional practice.

- Critically analyse the functions of the superannuation industry and its legislative requirements for industry participants
- Critically evaluate the role of superannuation as a savings and investment vehicle for the funding of retirement benefits
- Critically review the phases of superannuation, tax considerations and appropriate strategies associated with each phase
- Examine the preservation of superannuation benefits and conditions of release
- Articulate the relationship between superannuation and estate planning and assess and apply these links to the development of financial plans over the client’s financial life cycle
