Course overview

This advanced archaeological field methods course will introduce students to the key concepts, protocols and skills needed for archaeological investigations. We will explore best practice for archaeological fieldwork including working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Students will critically assess past field practices and reporting from archaeological field programs. Our primary focus for this course is teaching standard archaeological field skills such as surveying, excavation, mapping, and more. This will equip students with skills needed for further research or employment as an archaeologist with government, consultancy firms and other organisations.
