Course overview

To provide students with an advanced understanding of the factors that lead to urban decline, the policy frameworks and agendas designed to regenerate these areas and the opportunities and conflicts that may arise through the enactment of such policies.

Course learning outcomes

  • Identify and contrast theories, concepts and principles used to justify urban regeneration and related strategies in Australia and internationally
  • Identify project management processes utilized in developing collaborative approaches to large scale and long-term redevelopment projects
  • Identify social planning processes relevant to developing equitable outcomes for adjacent, existing and new residents
  • Develop conceptual approaches to regeneration of areas designated for renewal
