Course overview
The aim of this course is to build upon knowledge acquired in previous masters' studios providing students with practical experience in applying their discipline knowledge and skills to professional practice, and to reflect deeply on the relevance and applicability of previous studies in their program. The course aims to expose students to issues and aspirations relating to professional practice across a range of art and design professions, equipping students with knowledge and experience to embark on professional careers. This course aligns with the program's intent to provide specialist knowledge and skills applicable to professional practice in art and design fields.
Course learning outcomes
- Apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting by completing 150 hours of work placement within a professional practice, demonstrating the ability to adapt to various professional environments
- Evaluate and reflect on professional practice experiences by maintaining a detailed journal, documenting time spent, and activities undertaken during the placement
- Synthesize information from the work placement and community engagement to produce a coherent visual portfolio that showcases the development of professional competencies
- Collaborate with community organisations or associations to gain insights into professional practices and the professional community needs
- Formulate and justify a focussed investigation that is relevant to the field of study and the needs of the professional community, equivalent to 150 hours of engagement
