Course overview
This course aims to equip learners with the knowledge and skills to address a client’s proposed development through the application of advanced urban design and master planning skills. The course addresses all components of the process of client engagement from brief interpretation, site analysis, design proposal through costing and master planning sequencing. By practicing professional engagement skills for urban design, learners will develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for creating visionary strategies and design proposals. This course aligns with the program's intent to prepare learners for the challenges inherent in meeting the highest industry expectations of urban designers in pursuit of sustainable development.

Course learning outcomes
- Understand and apply urban design processes, from concept to capital work execution, by developing a master plan for a given site from an urban or regional area
- Work collaboratively with a client to determine when and what sustainable urban design interventions might be appropriate for a given site
- Integrate sustainable urban design theoretical framework and practical applications to address urban and regional development issues
- Utilise specialised software to analyse, design and manage urban environments
- Critically evaluate the effectiveness of design interventions, considering how they will be implemented, by whom, and within what timeframe
