Course overview
Studio Urbanism critically examines urban design practices and theories through the creation of a proposal for an urban project. Students will be introduced to the various theories, strategies and urban built types available to today’s urban designers. Theories of good urban form and critical urban theory will be discussed through a lecture series and then tested in a studio context. The course provides a platform for students to investigate and respond to site-specific issues within Adelaide or other cities, using these locales as laboratories to test their ideas in relation to global urban concepts, local concerns and innovative development strategies.
