Course overview
The aim of this course is to build upon knowledge acquired in Research Methods, developing methodologies and practices necessary to integrate theoretical, technological, behavioural, environmental, and ethical issues within art and design practice. Taken in conjunction with Masters Project 1, the course content covers development of research strategies applicable to artefacts and literature informing the evolution of your work in Masters Project 1 & 2. The outcome of this course is an academic thesis-style report. This course aligns with the program's intent to provide specialist knowledge and skills applicable to professional practice and lifelong learning in art and design fields.
Course learning outcomes
- Analyse and synthesize research methods to construct a cohesive written argument that integrates contemporary or historic theories and discourses
- Evaluate and enhance academic writing skills through systematic referencing and effective presentation techniques
- Formulate and execute an independent research project demonstrating advanced planning and research management strategies
- Critique and refine oral and visual presentation skills to articulate research findings effectively and develop structured written reports that reflect a deep understanding of the subject matter
