Course overview

In this course, students will explore the principles and practical applications of methodologies and technologies used in the practice of sustainable design. Students will develop knowledge of sustainability and technology; sustainable design strategies in architecture, interior architecture and industrial design; sustainable system design; lifecycle considerations; the use of metrics and rating tools in sustainable design practice.

Course learning outcomes

  • describe the principles and policy frameworks informing sustainable design practice, and the relevant technical strategies used to enact these principles
  • effectively utilise a range of methodologies and assessment techniques in sustainable design
  • critically evaluate and discuss new design paradigms to further sustainable design and development
