This course aims to enrich skills and knowledge framed by professional opportunities through small business management and self-employment practices related to the art and design industries. This course leads to the articulation of your creative aspirations to deliver a professional and viable creative practice; regardless of whether you intend establish your own creative enterprise or gain employment within the creative industries. Business Practices will focus on the business aspects of your practice and your professional development to support your goals. The course is structured to assist you in planning a sustainable enterprise no matter the creative intention or creative medium.

Course learning outcomes
- Assess and formulate personal and professional goals in relation to evolving industry, market, and societal strengths and vulnerabilities.
- Develop informed strategies for the synthesis of creative endeavours, integrating knowledge of relevant operational, contextual and resource considerations including marketing and financial planning.
- Investigate and evaluate the feasibility of business models in art or design, integrating knowledge of sustainability, ethical and legal regulations, and commercial practices.
- Apply knowledge of policy, funding systems and professional networks to build viable support structures for creative work, drawing on specialist advice and independent or collaborative strategies.
