Course overview

To provide students with the opportunity to acquire first-hand knowledge and experience of a range of interstate or overseas planning perspectives, development issues and management processes.

Course learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate an understanding of critical planning issues and practice in other Australian states or another country.
  • Develop a critical appreciation of the nature of urban growth and change in other states or countries.
  • Demonstrate a detailed understanding of specific aspects of planning and development in other countries or other Australian states.
  • Appreciate the importance of institutional, cultural and political contexts in shaping planning knowledge and practice.
  • Identify the differences in development and planning processes in other states or countries and those of South Australia.
