This course will advance students' competence in applying design processes, strategies, and practices through the detailed examination of construction and documentation methods to industry convention while maintaining design integrity. Students will further develop knowledge of the relationship between design, materials, and construction through the design and detailing of architectural project(s) of increasing complexity. Students will develop skills in the translation of design concepts to buildable outcomes through the application and communication of design development and documentation processes to industry convention used in architectural practice.
Course learning outcomes
- Apply research and professional skills and knowledge in the conceptual and schematic design of buildings and environments of increasing complexity
- Apply advanced manual and digital graphic techniques and modelling to describe three-dimensional form and spatial relationships
- Identify and describe the level of technical information required to communicate building project(s) of increasing complexity
- Critically examine design concepts to resolve construction and documentation strategies that retain design integrity
