Course overview

The aim of this course is to introduce students to principles applicable to the design detailing and construction of fixed furniture, joinery, and interior elements. Building upon the fundamental concepts of construction introduced in the first year, the course focuses on the detailed aspects of interior construction. By examining existing built environments and working with joiners, fabricators, and suppliers, learners will develop critical skills in the investigation of interior materials and methods of construction. This course aligns with the program's intent to provide a sound technical and ethical basis for materials specification and detail in the interior design profession.
