Course overview
To provide students with practical experience of the property development process in order to broaden their appreciation of the need for town planning regulation and to develop their understanding of the developer's perspectives on the planning and development interface.
Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate an understanding of the role of the private sector property development industry
- Carry out a detailed appraisal of a development site describing its characterisation, location and planning status
- Access diverse information sources, synthesise material, present relevant information and use information appropriately to enable the achievement of aims and desired outcomes
- Formulate a market appraisal for a site which assesses the underlying drivers of demand and supply
- Demonstrate an understanding of basic building construction techniques used in Australia
- Utilise computer software to undertake a range of analytical approaches to development projects and be able to undertake sensitivity testing and risk analysis
