To develop students' knowledge of materials and technologies required for the design, detailing, documentation, and fabrication of buildings of varying scales and complexities.
Course learning outcomes
- Analyse construction strategies suitable for lightweight pre-fabrication systems appropriate for building pre-fabrication
- Analyse materials suitable for lightweight pre-fabrication systems appropriate for building pre-fabrication
- Analyse workshop processes appropriate for building pre-fabrication
- Apply design knowledge and skills in the translation of schematic design proposals into detailed design propositions informed by an understanding of lightweight pre-fabrication materials, construction strategies, and workshop processes
- Assemble pre-fabricated building components based on detailed design propositions
