Course overview

This course aims to equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct effective research in agriculture and plant biology. The course will involve designing and undertaking a small independent research project, that addresses an industry-relevant problem within agricultural science and plant biology. Learners will enhance their critical thinking skills as well as develop analytical, field and/or laboratory problem solving skills that are essential for developing innovative solutions required of professionals working in agriculture and plant biology.

Course learning outcomes

  • Gather, critically evaluate and synthesise information from a range of relevant sources in agricultural science and plant biology using appropriate tools and methodologies.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of their chosen topic and its application in the design and completion of an industry-relevant research project by applying their knowledge to the synthesis of a research question as well as the evaluation and recommendation of proposed solutions.
  • Collect, record, analyse, interpret and report data in an appropriate manner.
