Course overview
In this course, students will complete the instrument flight rules ground simulator lessons and successfully pass the CASA Instrument Rating Flight Test. Instrument flight rule procedures conducted in the simulator and in flight, including holding patterns, precision and non precision approaches in both normal and non-normal scenarios.
Course learning outcomes
- Develop proficiency in flying multi-engine aircraft under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) through continued practice and skill development.
- Fly a cross country flight under instrument flight rules (IFR), both practically as well as in the simulator; perform holding patterns and approaches utilising the GPS, VOR, ILS and RNAV to the instrument rating standards for issue. Be recommended for Instrument Rating Test.
- Demonstrate a professional attitude consistent with an airline pilot applying: good decision making, situational awareness, airmanship and threat and error management by recognising and avoiding potential conflict, deviation from normal operations. Respond correctly to simulated or real in -flight emergencies.
