Course overview
In this course, students will undertake flights conducted under the instrument flight rules (IFR), IFR navigation lessons and 2D and 3D approaches in a simulator and a single engine aircraft. Also: obtain a multi-engine endorsement; instrument flight rule procedures conducted in the simulator, including holding patterns, precision and non precision approaches; multi-engine endorsement training.
Course learning outcomes
- Be endorsed to operate a multi-engine aircraft in accordance with the pilot operators handbook and CASA Rule Part 61.
- Fly a cross country flight under instrument flight rules (IFR), perform holding patterns and approaches utilising the GPS, VOR, ILS and RNAV to the instrument rating standards for issue. Be recommended for progress into Instrument Rating 2.
- Demonstrate a professional attitude consistent with an airline pilot applying: good decision making, situational awareness, airmanship and threat and error management by recognising and avoiding potential conflict, deviation from normal operations. Respond correctly to simulated or real in -flight emergencies.
