Course overview
In this course, students will carry out cross country flight and aircraft handling to successfully pass the Commercial Pilot Licence Flight Test. Flight planning, performance and preparation; departure and entry procedures controlled and in controlled aerodromes; diversions and simulated in-flight emergencies; flight outside and within controlled airspace; en route navigation under visual flight rules (VFR).
Course learning outcomes
- Operate the aircraft en-route VFR utilising the RNAV, VOR, GPS and autopilot.
- Demonstrate a professional attitude consistent with an airline pilot applying: good decision making, situational awareness, airmanship and threat and error management by recognising and avoiding potential conflict, deviation from normal operations. Respond correctly to simulated or real in -flight emergencies.
- Navigate the aircraft en route, at low level and in reduced visibility. Perform lost and diversion procedures. Execute departure and arrival procedures. Operations will be conducted within controlled and uncontrolled airspace. All exercises to be conducted within the CASA prescribed Commercial Pilot Licence flight test tolerances.
