Course overview
In this course, students will carry out cross country flying using visual flight rules while striving for commercial pilot licence professionalism and accuracy. Flight planning, performance and preparation; departure and entry procedures controlled and in controlled aerodromes; diversions and simulated in-flight emergencies; flight outside and within controlled airspace; en-route navigation under visual flight rules.
Course learning outcomes
- Apply the commercial pilot standards and processes required to flight plan, fly, divert, conduct lost procedures, manage in-flight emergencies and land at controlled and uncontrolled aerodromes other than the point of departure.
- Remain aware of the aircraft's position at all times when operating under Visual Flight Rules.
- Consistently demonstrate good decision making, situational awareness, airmanship and threat and error management by recognising and avoiding potential conflict, deviation from normal operations. Respond correctly to simulated or real in -flight emergencies.
