Course overview

The aim of this course is to impart the theoretical and practical knowledge in the areas of performance, loading and flight planning for large jet aircraft. Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge on performance, loading and flight planning of large jet aircraft as apply in real world context.

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply weight and balance policies to complete aircraft loading calculations at the airline transport pilot level.
  • Validate aircraft performance calculations, with the application of correct policies, at an airline transport pilot level.
  • Build up an in-depth understanding of large aircraft performance, with particular emphasis on optimising operational efficiency.
  • Construct flight plans for normal and non-normal large aircraft operations whilst adhering to a given policy.
