Course overview

This course will enable students to design a new experiential product for tourism, events, and hospitality sector and to devise a strategy for successful implementation of the product on the market. Experiential products; Identifying market opportunities; Understanding the customer; Ideating the product; Designing the experience/scape; Quality experiences, Product promotion and delivery; Pricing; Evaluating the product; Ethical considerations and sustainability.

Course learning outcomes

  • Independently research global and local market trends to identify business opportunities for development of a new experiential product in tourism, events, and hospitality.
  • Propose a creative product idea and justify its relevance to the tourism, events and hospitality industry.
  • Devise an appropriate business and marketing strategy for the implementation of a proposed product.
  • Apply relevant course concepts and theory to idea generation and implementation strategy.
  • Communicate an idea for an experiential product as appropriate for industry and academic audiences.
  • Demonstrate Business Enterprise Skills in the context of the Tourism, Event and Hospitality Management discipline: i) Problem Solving (intermediate level); and ii) Oral Communication (intermediate level).
