Course overview

To develop knowledge in relation to how sustainability issues influence corporate accounting and reporting practices, and to develop skills in relation to contemporary approaches and techniques to account for a corporation’s social, economic, and environmental impacts.

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply the knowledge of sustainability issues in accounting and reporting in appraising corporate sustainability impacts
  • Synthesise the accountability relationship between a corporation and its stakeholders in responding to sustainability issues
  • Explore the sustainability accounting regulatory landscape in relation to mandatory and voluntary initiatives
  • Evaluate corporations’ sustainability accounting practices in relation to their management and reporting
  • Apply academic research tools to address sustainability accounting issues in relation to a specific real-world context
