Bad Financial Standing (BFS)

Adelaide University campus building

What happens if you have overdue fees

If you have any overdue fees or charges, a Bad Financial Standing (BFS) status will be automatically applied to your student record.

When BFS is active, you won’t be able to:

  • view your academic results
  • enrol in new courses
  • access your academic transcript, or
  • graduate.

Your future enrolments may also be at risk of cancellation.

To have the BFS status removed, all outstanding fees and charges must be paid in full.

We are here to support

To avoid disruption to your studies, make sure your payments are made by the due dates. If you're experiencing financial difficulties, please email studentfinance@adelaideuni.edu.au before your payment deadline to discuss your options.

Important information for international students about BFS

As an international student, it’s essential to pay your fees by the due date for each study period. If you enter Bad Financial Standing (BFS), you won’t be able to enrol and your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) may be cancelled.

Maintaining full-time enrolment is a condition of your student visa. If you’re not enrolled, the University is required to report this to the Department of Home Affairs.

If you’re experiencing financial difficulties, please contact the Student Finance team before your payment deadline to discuss your situation.
